Contract Specialist (National Staff)

Job description

  • Awareness of Company’s Quality Policy.
  • At pre-contract stage, the work involves the review of the Joint Venture Client’s standard contract conditions and the associated bid documentation and if necessary, the proposal of alternative text/clauses or comments to these conditions and bid documents, including reviews of issues associated with legal matters, risk management, tax and accounting, cost and scheduling, engineering and construction personnel as conditions precedent to submitting bid documentation to the Client for final approval. Thereafter, the work entails coordinating the preparation and sub-mission of the invitation-to-bid (ITB) packages to bidders, including processing clarifications from bidders, preparation of bid evaluation programs, contractual evaluation of bids and negotiation with bidders, leading to contract preparation and the award of contracts.
  • At post-award stage, the work includes conducting kick – off meetings, administration of the assigned contracts to ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions, coordinating all contract submittals and correspondence, preparation of amendments to contracts, contractual letters for Client, contract interpretation as necessary, preparation and processing of Change Orders, assisting in the resolution of claims and the eventual close out together with constructive feedback on Lessons Learned from the Contract Development and Administration activities.

 

Qualification

  • Must have sound knowledge and understanding of contractual terms and conditions.
  • Must have good contract and commercial awareness.
  • Familiar with all phases of EPC Contracts.
  • Awareness of compliance and audit processes.
  • Ability to identify changes and improvements to contract procedures to reflect Client’s changing requirements.
  • Ability to initiate and promote the function of contract administration throughout the validity of the contracts.
  • Ability to work without supervision.
  • Knowledge of computer based systems including Microsoft Office or equivalent software packages.
  • Be proactive, a self-starter and ability to work without supervision.
  • Systematic thinker and good organizational skills/ time management.
  • Strong personality with ability to be firm and persuasive and influence without authority.
  • Team player within and across functions.
  • Sensitive to Client’s requirements and Client-focused.

Education: Higher Education Degree (in Legal, Financial, Engineering Discipline or similar) is mandatory, preferably including education in Western institution of higher learning.

Language skills: Russian and English are mandatory. Kazakh is advantageous.

Professional experience: Min 10 years of contracts experience, preferably in oil and gas sector.
