Principal Civil Engineer (National Staff)

Job description

  • To participate in the selection of staff, job interviews.
  • To be responsible for mentoring of Civil/Structural Engineering staff.
  • To redact/review Job Descriptions of the Team and new resources.
  • To be responsible for implementation of best practice in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • To liaise with Lead, Senior Civil/Structural Engineers to plan workload and resources as required.
  • To assign resources to Projects, create and assign tasks, set deadlines, review and update workload.
  • To ensure the implementation and compliance of all Group policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • To plan and foresee the training of junior staff to promote growth.
  • To manage and review the performance of the entire team.
  • To build and maintain a positive working environment and relationships with co-workers.
  • To investigate complaints within the department and to recommend corrective action as necessary to resolve complaints.
  • To manage and/or participate in the preparation of complex engineering studies, reports, and Model Reviews.
  • To support BDPM during tendering phase in Project Analysis and to contribute to manhour estimation and budget preparation.
  • To ensure minimum standards of health and safety, quality, and ethics are maintained in undertaking all project and other activities.
  • To analyze the project technical specifications (Civil, Structural, Architectural, Materials, etc..) issued by the Client and oversee them versus the international standards bodies and applicable legal requirements.
  • To understand and know the standards of the RoK
  • To review and comment on client’s technical documentation and requirements, to contribute to design and engineering optimization in term of costs, fabrication and HSSE.
  • To execute assigned activities such as input to the design, verification and studies relevant to Civil discipline engineering topic.
  • To review and /or vetting of design specifications for reinforced steel structure, concrete, buildings, earthworks, roads and underground networks, piling works and soil improvement including related civil calculations.
  • To review and /or vetting of technical documentation for civil material requisition and assists the procurement de-partment in the technical evaluations.
  • To assist the Engineering Manager in solving technical problems arising during Project development and for inter-facing/supporting the internal and external other discipline’s departments.
  • To act as focal point for interdisciplinary Design in complex technical and managerial issues.
  • To be able reviewing and understanding Civil engineering and construction drawings, roads and plot plans, project plans, manpower deployment plans, in accordance with international and local standards including during the construction work as part of the CMP
  • To inspect at site and verify actual conditions of buildings, RC and Steel structures, equipment foundations, where applicable.
  • To arrange/analyze geological/geotechnical survey reports and understand criticalities, where applicable.
  • To develop studies for foundations and concrete structures.
  • To perform/verify all discipline analyses and calculation notes required designing of the civil works, including the engineering activities of third parties and/or sub-Contractors.
  • To perform/verify site surveys and supervision, where applicable.

 

Qualification

  • Must have sound knowledge and understanding of technical terms and conditions.
  • Ability to identify changes and improvements to the technical documentation and procedures to reflect Client’s changing requirements.
  • Knowledge of computer based systems including, CAD, Excel, Word, Microsoft Office or equivalent software packages.
  • Knowledge of FEM software calculation.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering is minimum requirement. Master’s degree preferred
Language skills: English and Russian are mandatory. Kazakh is advantageous
Professional experience: Min 20 years
