Environmental Engineer (National Staff)

Job description

Requirements to candidate:

• higher education in the field of environmental protection.
• mandatory to have certificate of completion of courses on environmental safety, waste management, emission permits;
• at least 5 years of work experience in the environmental protection;
• experience in the field of environmental protection in the energy, oil and gas industry or construction.

The employee shall be guided in his/her work by:

• requirements of the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as resolutions, regulations, orders, methodological materials of the republican and local public authorities and management bodies in the field of ecology and environmental protection;

The candidate should know:

• environmental legislation;
• regulatory and methodological materials on environmental protection and rational use of natural resources;
• systems of environmental standards and regulations;
• procedure for environmental assessment of pre-design and design documents;
• environmental monitoring methods;
• progressive domestic and international experience in the field of environmental protection and rational use of natural resources;
• procedure for accounting and reporting on environmental protection;
• specifics of environmental protection measures in the oil and gas, transportation and energy sectors;
• rules and instructions on occupational health, safety and fire safety.

Professional duties:

• development of a section on environmental protection, environmental impact assessment;
• development of measures and proposals to reduce environmental impact on atmospheric air, water bodies, pro-duction and consumption waste;
• ensuring the development of maximum permissible standards of harmful impacts in the atmospheric air, water bodies, limits of production and consumption waste disposal;
• preparation of necessary documentation for passing the environmental expertise, obtaining permits in terms of environmental legislation for projected facilities;
• participation in public hearings in order to obtain a positive environmental impact assessment conclusion;
• training of younger and less experienced colleagues;
• fulfillment of other assignments of the Line manager.

Education: Bachelor degree in engineering is minimum requirement. Master degree preferred
Language skills: English is advantageous
Professional experience: Min 5 years – technical experience
