Lead Civil & Structural Engineer (National Staff)
Job description
- Adhere to all HSEQ requirements within the Civil/Structural Engineering discipline in accordance with Industry, regulatory and the company best practices and management systems
- Provide technical support to Engineering studies such as design reviews, HAZOP, SIL, and Constructability.
- Always utilize a safe approach in design and working practices.
- Report to the Department Manager / CSA Team Lead, the candidate will assume sole responsibility for assigned Civil/Structural engineering work scopes
- Work with and support management team in the coordination of all related activities
- Assure that the technical quality of work performed meets organizational standards, codes and general knowledge of engineering principles and projects
- Participate in people development through mentoring, development of training material, conducting training seminars, and performance appraisal input and counselling
- Provide direction and guidance on all Civil/Structural engineering technical queries raised by either internal or external parties
- Review of vendor documentation requirements for use and integration within projects.
- Contribute to and participate in formal and informal design reviews and the development of engineering changes
- Review drawings, calculations, specifications, and other engineering documentation for compliance with contract requirements, good engineering practices, codes, and standards
- Perform CSA [Civil Structural Architectural] design development in several project phases e.g. conceptual design, front-end design, detail engineering and design for integration of new facilities in upgrade type multi-disciplinary projects
- Perform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve problems of complex to difficult engineering complexity
- Prepare engineering deliverables and ensure that they conform to all applicable engineering codes and standards as well as the Client’s policies and procedures
- Analyse and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines
- Represent as the civil/structural engineer on projects; planning, managing and coordinating the civil/structural engineering activities on large and/or technically complex portion of projects and/or serve in an individual contributor role as the Civil/Structural expert completing broadly defined and/or technically complex engineering assignments
- Provide sound technical advice and solutions to a diversity of technical problems within the discipline
- Coordinate with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre- commissioning, and start-up to ensure design integrity and consistency
- Conceptualize Civil/Structural designs and produce solutions that are safe, cost effective, fit for purpose and add value to both the company and the client(s)
- Develop and review estimates and schedules, progress reports, including manpower deployment for tendering purposes
- Develop and review specifications, Basis of Design, Design criteria, input for Topo & Geo Surveys, etc.
- Ensure that all work is completed and delivered according to the schedule without compromise quality
- Collect and analyze information in order to timely report the required information to stakeholders
- Provide regular status reporting to stakeholders in order to enable them to take required actions
- Create and maintain documentation to allow effective knowledge transfer throughout the company
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management
- Take all necessary trainings and perform site surveys where needed (inside and outside RoK), without exceptions
Qualification
- Must have sound knowledge and understanding of Discipline’s relevant technical terms and topics
- Familiar with all Project phases of Concept Design, FEED and Detailed Design
- Awareness of Compliance and ISO Audit Processes
- Ability to identify changes and improvements to the technical documentation and procedures to reflect Client’s
changing requirements
- Knowledge of computer based systems including Microsoft Office, Teams, Outlook
- Sound knowledge of STAAD.Pro, LIRA, IDEA StatiCa, or other equivalent software packages, Autocad and/or Microstation.
- Ability to perform independently design and calculations of Foundations (shallow and deep), Steel and Concrete structures, boundary walls, Tanks, Pipe
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering is minimum requirement. Master’s degree preferred.
Language skills: English and Russian are mandatory (technical-advanced level). Kazakh is advantageous.
Professional experience: Min 10 years, (Min 5 years – managerial experience)
